Other First Aid Training and Workshops

Larger groups can be trained at one time, but in the past this has involved employing a nurse practitioner colleague to come along for the day, (or part of the day), to assist, so this means that there are additional costs incurred. I am aware, especially in organizations like schools that the numbers of inset days are limited, so it may mean that the best way for them is to train as many as possible in the time available.

I have done school workshops, where I worked with each class in the school, from reception through to Year 6. Full details of the contents of each session are available on request. Broadly speaking, the younger children learnt how to dial 999, the importance of safety, of knowing where they live, and who to ask for help. Older children had the opportunity to make fake wounds and bandage each other up, and the top two classes learnt CPR. A day like this costs £200 plus the cost of bandages and plasters (approx £25).

Weekly hour-long sessions can be provided also, as this sort of First Aid training works best for venture scout groups, and CCF groups etc.

Devon First Aid provides the paediatric First Aid training for a large chain of nurseries in the South West. As well as training the staff, I have also taught short one-off (45 minute) sessions that are programmed in to the monthly staff meeting. For example, covering anaphylactic shock, or the use of inhalers, or whatever the staff would like an update on at the time). Also, if your nursery would like to offer short sessions to parents and carers, Devon First Aid can deliver 2-hour evening classes for parents on-site, which have always proved very popular and successful.

Entonox Training – please feel free to contact Helen if you would like her to come in and give training on the safe use of Entonox in the workplace.
